But really it's fun dancey and catchy music to listen to all the time and it's hard to not adore everything about these two.Īnd now before I gush more about the awesomeness, I should probably get into the actual show review. They're definitely no mainstream oh baby oh baby caterwauling, but rather do a fantastic job of conveying feeling - anything from frustrated to quieter introspective longing-y things and then fun rocky angry sarcastic lyrics :D They mostly write about love and crushes and breakups and - well, call me soppy, but I connect to the lyrics on a very deep emotional level. Sliiiightly.Īnother factor that makes me love their sound so much is the song texts. Might take some getting used to for some people, but their songs are catchy and grab you right away with their vibe and harmonies - no wonder they've enthralled a hyperactive kiddo like me :P And if you listen to their music long enough, you can sliiiiiightly tell them apart by their voices. Sara self-declared some of their singing as making herself sound a bit like a chipmunk on purpose. I discovered them by accident a bit over half a year ago, by random selection really from a list of musicians I saw on the internet - I hadn't known of the name Tegan before and it randomly fascinated me so I clicked on the link which took me to their youtube, and, well, here I am nurturing a healthy T&S obsession XD
Over the years they've built up a dedicated fanbase (more on that later), and with their recent album Hearththrob are reaching out to an even wider audience. The general rule of thumb is that whichever twin writes the song gets to sing it. Fun fact - they started writing and making music at 15, and started touring right after finishing high school. They write their own songs and play keyboard and guitar, and in some songs you'll see Tegan accompanying the drummer and other guitar/bass players with a shaker or tambourine. So hey folks! Amazingly, I have the muse to write a longish text today - probably because I'm still hyped from the concert last night.
